This Privacy Policy explains what personal information My Recipe Critic (myrecipecritic.com) collects when you visit the site, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what choices and rights you have. If something here is unclear, contact us and we will explain it.

1) Scope

This policy applies to myrecipecritic.com: reading recipes, browsing categories, using the contact form, and leaving ratings or comments. It does not cover other websites we link to, including advertisers and social platforms such as Pinterest. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we recommend reading them before you share information there.

2) Information We Collect

A. Information you give us

• Contact form: your name, email address and the message you write. We use this only to reply to you.
• Ratings and comments: your name and the text you submit. Comments and ratings you post may be displayed publicly on the recipe page, so please do not include information you want to keep private.

B. Information collected automatically

• Server logs: like most websites, our web server records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use it for security and troubleshooting.
• Visit statistics: we run first-party statistics on our own server. They record which page was viewed and the referring site. Raw visit records are kept for 7 days, after which only daily totals remain.
• Cookies and similar technologies: see section 4.

We do not ask for sensitive personal data such as health information, payment card numbers or precise location. Please do not send such information through the contact form or in comments.

3) How We Use Your Information

• To reply to messages you send through the contact form.
• To publish your ratings and comments and to keep the comment feature free of spam and abuse.
• To keep the site secure, find and fix technical problems, and block abusive traffic.
• To understand which recipes and pages are useful to readers, using our first-party statistics, so we can improve the site.
• To show advertising that helps cover the cost of running the site (see section 4).
• To meet legal obligations and to protect our rights if needed.

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent (for example, for personalized ads), our legitimate interests (running a secure site and understanding how it is used), and, for replying to your messages, taking steps at your request.

4) Cookies, Advertising and Service Providers

Google AdSense

We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad and measure ad performance. Personalized ads are shown only with your consent. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google consent message appears on your first visit so you can accept or decline personalized advertising.

If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for content delivery and security. Cloudflare processes requests to our site to deliver pages faster and to protect against attacks, and it may set technical cookies for these purposes.

Our own statistics

Our visit statistics run on our own server and are not shared with an outside analytics company. See section 2B for what is recorded and how long it is kept.

Pinterest and other social links

Our pages link to our Pinterest profile. If you follow that link, Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to what happens on its platform.

Your cookie choices

• Use the Google consent message (where shown) to accept or decline personalized ads.
• Change or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect parts of the site, such as security checks.
• Adjust personalized advertising in your Google account at https://adssettings.google.com.

5) Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money. We share data only with the providers needed to run the site, and only as described here: Google (advertising), Cloudflare (content delivery and security) and our hosting infrastructure (which stores server logs and the data you submit). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the site and its visitors from abuse or fraud.

6) Data Retention

• Raw visit records: kept for 7 days, then reduced to daily totals that do not identify you.
• Server logs: kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
• Contact form messages: kept for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up.
• Ratings and comments: kept for as long as they remain on the recipe page, unless you ask us to remove them.

7) Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased in certain circumstances;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format where applicable;
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal;
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8) California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request deletion of your personal information; to request correction of inaccurate information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies set by Google may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out through Google Ads Settings or by blocking cookies in your browser. To make a request, contact us; we will respond within the time required by law. You may also use an authorized agent, and we may ask for verification of your identity.

9) Children's Privacy

My Recipe Critic is a general-audience cooking site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10) Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information we hold, including the security and delivery services described above. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sharing sensitive details in comments or messages.

11) International Transfers

Our service providers, including Google and Cloudflare, operate internationally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, these providers rely on recognized safeguards for such transfers.

12) Changes to This Policy
