Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) cornstarch
  • 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce, low sodium
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 head (approx. 500g) broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch (2.5cm) ginger, peeled and minced
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and ginger. Toss to coat well.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Wash and cut the broccoli, bell pepper, and onion. Mince the garlic and ginger.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  5. Add broccoli, bell pepper, and onion to the wok. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli is crisp-tender.
  6. Push the vegetables to one side of the wok. Add the marinated beef to the other side and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until cooked through and browned.
  7. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  8. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds (if using). Serve immediately over rice or noodles. Enjoy your Speedy Beef & Veggie Stir-Fry!
