Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce, low sodium
- 1 tbsp (15ml) cornstarch
- 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) ground ginger
- 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce, low sodium
- 2 tbsp (30ml) oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp (15ml) rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp (15ml) brown sugar
- 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
- 1 head (approx. 500g) broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch (2.5cm) ginger, peeled and minced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and ginger. Toss to coat well.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Wash and cut the broccoli, bell pepper, and onion. Mince the garlic and ginger.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add broccoli, bell pepper, and onion to the wok. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli is crisp-tender.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the wok. Add the marinated beef to the other side and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until cooked through and browned.
- Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds (if using). Serve immediately over rice or noodles. Enjoy your Speedy Beef & Veggie Stir-Fry!
