Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
- 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Rinse green beans in cold water and dry them thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel to prevent steaming. Trim the stem ends.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for 3 full minutes until a drop of water flicked onto it dances and evaporates.
- Add the 2 tbsp of olive oil and wait until it begins to shimmer.
- Carefully add the 1 lb of green beans in a single layer. Let them sit undisturbed for 2 minutes until you see light charred spots forming.
- Toss the beans with tongs to move them around. Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly softened.
- Push the beans to the edges and drop the 4 cloves of sliced garlic and 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes into the center.
- Stir the garlic for 1 minute until it turns a pale golden brown and smells fragrant.
- Toss everything together with the 1/2 tsp sea salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the 1 tsp lemon juice. Serve immediately.
