Instructions:
- Prepare the Custard: In a shallow baking dish, vigorously whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until completely homogenous and slightly frothy.
- Soak the Bread: Submerge one slice of bread into the custard mixture at a time. Allow it to soak for 20–30 seconds per side. The bread should be saturated but not disintegrating.
- Preheat Cooking Surface: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of oil. Swirl to coat the surface evenly.
- Cook the First Batch: Place 2-3 slices of soaked bread onto the hot surface, ensuring there is space between them. Cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until the underside is a deep, rich golden brown and exhibits crisp edges.
- Flip and Finish: Flip the toast carefully. Cook the second side for another 3–4 minutes. If the pan dries out, add a small knob of butter before flipping.
- Rest: Transfer cooked French Toast to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to maintain crispness while finishing the remaining batches.
- Serve immediately with your preferred toppings like maple syrup or fresh berries.
