Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm water
- 2 tsp (7g) instant yeast
- 1 tsp (6g) salt
- 1 tbsp (14g) sugar
- 2 tbsp (28g) extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp (14g) melted butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp (1g) dried oregano
Instructions:
- Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in the olive oil, then gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a shaggy dough forms and no dry flour remains.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 3–5 minutes until the surface is smooth.
- Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into two equal balls.
- Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball into a thin oval or circle (about 1/4 inch thick) and transfer to a parchment-lined sheet.
- Bake at 425°F (218°C) for 5–7 minutes until the base is set and pale gold.
- Remove from the oven, add your favorite toppings, and return to the heat for another 7–10 minutes until the edges are mahogany-brown and the cheese bubbles.
