Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) warm water
  • 2 tsp (7g) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp (6g) salt
  • 1 tbsp (14g) sugar
  • 2 tbsp (28g) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (14g) melted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp (1g) dried oregano

Instructions:

  1. Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in the olive oil, then gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a shaggy dough forms and no dry flour remains.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 3–5 minutes until the surface is smooth.
  4. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal balls.
  6. Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball into a thin oval or circle (about 1/4 inch thick) and transfer to a parchment-lined sheet.
  7. Bake at 425°F (218°C) for 5–7 minutes until the base is set and pale gold.
  8. Remove from the oven, add your favorite toppings, and return to the heat for another 7–10 minutes until the edges are mahogany-brown and the cheese bubbles.
