Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, simmering for 2–3 minutes until the liquid has reduced into a thick glaze.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. In a 9-inch square baking dish, spread the softened cream cheese in an even layer across the bottom.
  5. Sprinkle garlic powder and smoked paprika over the cream cheese and smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
  6. Spread the cooked ground beef evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Top with shredded sharp cheddar and jalapeño slices.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the edges are just beginning to brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
