Ingredients:
- 4 all-beef hot dogs (franks)
- 4 standard potato or white hot dog buns
- 1 teaspoon melted butter or neutral oil spray (for toasting)
- Assorted condiments (mustard, ketchup, relish, etc.)
Instructions:
- Pat your hot dogs dry. Use a sharp paring knife to make 3 to 4 shallow diagonal cuts across the top of each dog. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the scored hot dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Set the timer for 6 minutes.
- Halfway through the cooking time (at the 3 minute mark), pause the machine and gently shake the basket or use tongs to flip the hot dogs. Continue cooking until the dogs are nicely browned, slightly blistered, and the cuts have opened up (6-8 minutes total).
- Remove the crispy hot dogs and set them aside. Place the four buns directly into the empty air fryer basket. Cook at 380°F (195°C) for 1 to 2 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
- Tuck the hot dogs into the perfectly toasted buns and load them up with your preferred toppings and condiments.
